Naturopathic Medicine

Focusing on total wellness and health promotion, I primarily use three methods to support you as you move towards achieving true balance in all aspects of your life:

  • Botanical medicine

  • Traditional Chinese medicine & acupuncture

  • Counselling

We begin by addressing root cause, and by optimizing digestion and absorption. We work to balance stress, sleep, and the fostering of a sustainable healthy lifestyle. My practice philosophy is one of supported independence: In any individual treatment plan, my goal is to help someone re-discover the tangible, practical, ways to regain balance in their lives with the minimum amount of intervention.

I am a licensed Naturopathic Doctor, a Registered Herbalist, and a certified yoga instructor. I maintain a Naturopathic Family Medicine practice at Roncy’s Apothecary & Clinic in Roncesvalles Village. Although I primarily see adults in my practice, I spent a year of my clinical internship training on a specialized pediatric rotation, and very much welcome children and teenagers to my practice.

I am a member of the Canadian Association of Naturopathic Doctors (CAND), the Ontario Association of Naturopathic Doctors (OAND), and I am licensed through the College of Naturopaths of Ontario. I am also a member of the Ontario Herbalists Association.

Holistic Counselling

What does a holistic counselling session look like?

The counselling sessions I offer work similarly to other Naturopathic appointments. We begin with whatever challenges are most important to you, and systematically work our way through how these manifest as behaviours or patterns in your life. We work at addressing root causes, and underlying emotional patterns.

What these session aren’t is a slow dredging and re-living of past events. Those types of sessions seem not to work as well. Sometimes past experiences come up, and we work with them as they arise.

In general, we focus on root emotions that weren’t processed the first time around. Most importantly, we focus on how those shelved emotions colour and inform your current behaviour patterns. Using techniques of Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), acceptance, awareness, mindfulness and loving kindness, we take the most direct route back to optimal overall health.

Kids and teens

As part of my clinical internship at The Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine, I spent a year training on a specialized pediatric rotation. Working with children, and teenagers, has always been something I’ve enjoyed. In fact, before I became an ND, I used to work as a pre-school teacher! Although I may not break into entertaining song and dance during a visit (unless by request…), I believe strongly in the importance of helping children stay in balance as their bodies learn and grow.

Working with children and teenagers is some of the most rewarding work I do, because often, with just a little guidance, they easily return to a place of health and balance..
